Saksa Criticizes the Dota 2 Tournament Schedule

Martin “Saksa” Sazdov stated that he strongly dislikes the curent Dota 2 tournament schedule. The esports player believes there are too many similar events on the pro scene featuring the same participants.

The player shared this opinion in an interview with Jaxon.

“I don’t really like it. I think a more balanced aproach would be better. When one tournament follows another, it’s not as exciting anymore, especially from the viewers’ perspective. You see the same teams in one tournament and then the same teams in the next just a few days later.”

Acording to Martin “Saksa” Sazdov, an overly packed tournament schedule is harmful to the pro scene, as it negatively impacts audience interest. The esports player noted that he preferred the Major system, and he considers the current format unbalanced, since after a month-and-a-half break following the December DreamLeague tournament, teams had to play five events in a row.

“I believe the system with three Majors in Dota was better. First there are some tournaments, then a Major, followed by the next Major. And just three Majors and The International in a whole year. That would be much better.

It’s a bit strange because we played DreamLeague in December, and then we had a one-and-a-half-month break before the next tournament in February. First we had a month-and-a-half break, and now we have five tournaments in a row. It’s a bit unbalanced. It would be great to tweak the schedule a bit to smooth out these kinds of issues.”

As a reminder, Martin “Saksa” Sazdov previously disputed Team Yandex’s position in Liquipedia’s ranking of Dota 2 pro-scene teams.
