Yaroslav "NS" Kuznetsov, a streamer and a former e-sports player, noted that Dota 2 rating system has ceased to have significance, as he explains, all ranks have essentially become homogenized in matchmaking.
He mentioned this while on a Twitch stream.
'Rating is dead. There is no need now, for someone to state, ‘I have this rating, and you have that.’ It mattered back when Miracle was playing. At that time, those who had a 6000 rating were just serious e-sport players, there were not so many of them. As for players of 3000-4000, there were great differences regarding their skill, now everything has just mixed up”
NS specified that the rating in Dota 2 is of no value at this point in time, further proving that the scenario was very much different before. He claims that only few players used to have a rating of 6000. Those who received ratings of between 3000 to 4000 would have big differences when it came to lane skill.
It is important to highlight the fact that many of the competitors believe that ranked matches are indeed not where they should be and have actually called out Valve to clear out all of the competitive ratings so as to assist in matchmaking in Dota 2.
