Ilya “Yatoro” Mulyarchuk, who used to be the carry of
Team Spirit, proposed that Valve develop an MMR reset system in Dota 2, which continues to reset player ranks at intervals of two months - just like how it is in Valorant.
The 2-time world champion proposed this when he was streaming on Twitch.
"I would honestly be so happy if they just wiped MMR completely. Like, reset everyone to 5K – that really needs to happen. Like in Valorant, where ranks reset by two tiers every act, Dota 2 should do the same. For example, players with Immortal numbers could be reset to Divine, Divine players to Legend, and Legend players to Knight, or whatever. MMR should reset every two months – it’s something that really needs to be done. Right now, you can just sit there, not playing Dota 2, and still have the same points. That’s ridiculous; it shouldn’t work that way"
It’s worth noting that Yatoro recently broke a world record in Dota 2 by surpassing 16,000 MMR.
