dota pro circuit soon
Reshuffles everywhere. Lots of rumors, insider information and unexpected announcements. The information about the new season of Dota Pro Circuit will be out soon, so everyone is in a hurry.

However, several questions remain. When does the new season start? Will all players and teams have time to prepare? What is going on in China? How can DPC format be improved?

When is Dota Pro Circuit?

Dates are already known

Valve has yet to officially announce DPC 2021-2022. However, the dates are already known: the season will begin on November 29th.

For the first time this became known from Alliance manager Maria Gunina, as mentioned in the article «New DPC season and upcoming tournaments». This information was confirmed by other managers and players.

Inverno

Unlike the first DPC of the season in 2021, now organizations and teams know how much time they have left to finally form their rosters.

What to watch while waiting

Until the DPC season starts, viewers can watch some online tournaments with tier 2 teams. Unfortunately, the top organizations are currently busy with roster changes or just decided to take a break after TI10.

Dota 2 Champions League 2021 Season 5 tournament, which will end on November 28, fits very well into this time period. A great opportunity for tier 2 teams to show their new rosters at the official matches.

D2CL 2021 S5

Meanwhile, Beyond the Summit also organized a tournament for teams from America and Southeast Asia. BTS Pro Series Season 9 playoffs start on November 10 and will end well before the end of the reshuffle season.

Teams and players ready?

Reshuffles in all regions are in full swing. Rumors and insights are everywhere. At the moment, only a few teams have officially confirmed their rosters for the next season.

Tier 2 teams

At this time, teams from Europe and CIS are announcing and testing their rosters at D2CL 2021 S5 tournament. The audience saw the new Creepwave, B8, Team Empire, HellRaisers and others in the game.

In America, squads of players are now changing organizations. In SEA, reshuffles have calmed down and almost all organizations are already ready for the new season. You can watch both region's teams play at the BTS Pro Series Season 9 tournament.

Top organizations

Top teams are still deciding and trying to keep all information secret. However, insiders don't sleep.

During this time, the public has already been shocked by unexpected announcements. Some have already been mentioned in «Reshafles after TI10».

Gustav «s4» Magnusson left Alliance after Artsiom «fng» Barshak and Linus «Limmp» Blomdin. The organization is now actively looking for players. An insider reported that Alliance is testing the roster with w33, Saksa and Lelis.

Virtus.prо think that the problem was with the players. Therefore, Vitalie «Save-» Melnic and Egor «Nightfall» Grigorenko were moved to reserve. New players are now being tested in their place.

Ludwig «Zai» Wåhlberg left Team Secret and joined Team Liquid. Now both teams need to decide who else to take on the roster. There are rumors that SumaiL and iceiceice may come to Secret, but the CEO of the organization partially denied them.

Zai

Most of all, fans are worried about the fate of the OG roster, which literally began to fall apart after The International 10. Ceb announced his retirement, SumaiL and Saksa have left, and Topson and N0tail may not be in the new lineup.

And this is not the end. More than two weeks are left before the roster lock, which means we will still see more than one loud announcement from top teams.

What's happening in China

Nothing is clear in China. Only PSG.LGD announced what players and organization want to keep the roster unchanged. And this is a very smart move considering all their recent achievements.

For the rest of the teams, deals are a little more complicated. So far, no organization has officially announced a change in their Dota 2 team roster. But at the same time, there is already a lot of information about possible transfers.

EHOME player Yang «Chalice» Shenyi shares some interesting information on possible reshuffles in the Chinese Dota scene on his streams.

He also noted that Valve wants to start a new DPC season at all costs this month. But due to COVID-19 and restrictions from Romania and China, some players were unable to return home in time.

Oling report

Players from Southeast Asia faced a similar problem. However, those were more fortunate and they have already returned home after TI.

ReiN report

Ofcourse, in such a situation, organizations find it difficult to negotiate with each other. And even if they make it to the start of the game, the players won't have enough time to just relax or be with their family. After all, you already need to get ready for the bootcamp and play.

What can be better

DPC points

It has been said many times about the imperfection of the distribution of DPC points. Critics argue that the regional leagues are giving too much, and majors results are not influencing it.

In confirmation of this, the results of teams from South and North America are cited. And if Evil Geniuses, Quincy Crew and Team Undying were able to compete in The International 2021 Main Stage, then read about the rest in the article «Which region teams at TI10 disappointed Dota 2 fans the most?»

In addition, such well-known teams as EHOME, Tundra Esports, Team Liquid and Team Nigma did not make it to the tournament. Ofc, many fans were painful to watch the play of some teams and to understand that instead of them more worthy rosters could play at TI10.

However, there is no better option now. Valve is completely satisfied with the current system and there will be no significant changes.

Match Schedule

The problem of DPC 2021 season duration was also raised several times. No one was satisfied that the players were waiting for one match for a whole week while sitting at the bootcamp, after which they waited for another week again.

The manager of Team Spirit, Dmitry «Korb3n» Belov, suggested fixing it. On his stream, he said that he would like to split the upper and lower divisions into separate time periods and shorten the time of the seasons.

Korb3n

For example, only the upper division teams would play first in the region. And instead of 6 weeks, the games would last 2-3. And in the rest of the weeks the lower division teams would play.

This change has pros:
  1. The duration of the season for teams is reduced. Less time will be spent on bootcamp, tighter schedule of games.
  2. Teams have more free time. If you play all the games in 2-3 weeks instead of 6, then the remaining time will be absolutely free. It can be spent on preparation for a major, media activity, or for players to relax.
  3. During the games of the upper division, it is possible to hold qualifiers for the lower division, which will further shorten the duration of the entire season.
  4. By shortening the time of the season, it will be easy to select dates for the Major. And in case of unforeseen circumstances, reschedule the tournament without any bad consequences. Moreover, the games of the second division at the end of the season will not affect the dates of the tournament.
  5. By shortening the season and giving teams more time, other tournament organizers will be able to host their own tournaments. Thus, it will be possible to either once again see the matches between the top teams of different regions, or to give an opportunity to 2-3 tier teams to improve.
There are no cons to this change. It is not clear whether the audience will benefit from this or not. Although, given that the games take place at a certain prime time in each region, there will not be much difference.

It remains to be hoped that Valve will still announce a new DPC season in the near future and all the dates and details will become known. In the meantime, it remains to watch the great reshuffles in the Dota 2 world.
