19th Asian Games in Hangzhou: Which Well-Known Esports Players Will Be Competing in Dota 2

While the Dota 2 esports scene is eagerly anticipating The International 2023, the annual world championship tournament, there is another upcoming event where national pride will be at stake: the Dota 2 medal event at the Asian Games 2022, scheduled to take place from September 29th to October 2nd in Hangzhou, China.

The Dota 2 medal event at the 19th Asian Games will feature national teams from China, Malaysia, Kazakhstan, Saudi Arabia, Nepal, India, Indonesia, Kyrgyzstan, Hong Kong, the Philippines, Mongolia, Myanmar, Thailand, and Uzbekistan competing for medals and national pride.

While most of the top Dota 2 players are currently occupied with preparations for TI 2023, there are still many prominent players eager to secure medals at the Asian Games.

China

As the host country, China has selected some legendary players for its national team, including Wang "Ame" Chunyu, Lu "Somnus" Yao, Yang "Chalice" Shenyi, Zhao "XinQ" Zixing, and Yu "皮球" Yajun.

China's national team will also be coached by other legendary players, such as Zhang "LaNm" Zhicheng, while experienced veteran Xiong "Pyw" Jiahan is listed as a substitute.

With such a star-studded lineup, China is undoubtedly the heavy favorite to secure the gold medal in Dota 2.

Malaysia

Malaysia's national team will be led by PSG.LGD midlaner Cheng "NothingToSay" Jin Xiang. The team also includes players signed to Chinese teams, such as Daniel "Ghost" Chan and Thiay "JT-" Jun Wen from Xtreme Gaming.

Completing Malaysia's roster are the support duo of Tue "ah fu" Soon Chuan and Yap "xNova" Jian Wei.

The team will be coached by the legendary Chai "Mushi" Yee Fung, with Ng "YamateH" Wei Poong as a substitute.

Indonesia

Indonesia's national team is primarily comprised of players from Army Geniuses, including Muhammad "inYourdreaM" Rizky, Daud "db-" Budiawan, Tri "Jhocam" Kuncoro, and Rizki "Varizh" Varizh. Randy "Dreamocel" Sapoetra rounds out the team as the carry player.

The squad will be coached by Brizio "Hyde" Budiana, with Syaid "womy" Reski listed as a substitute.

Philippines

The Philippines' national team features three players from Polaris Esports: Eljohn "Akashi" Andales, Michael "Enryu" Ladines, and Marvin "Boomy" Rushton. Mc "Mac" Villanueva will be the team's midlaner, while Bryle "cml" Alvizo will play the position 4 support.

Filipino Dota 2 legend Djardel "DJ" Mampusti is also listed as the team's substitute.

Thailand

Lastly, Thailand's national team will be led by Team SMG offlaner Natthaphon "Masaros" Ouanphakdee.

The rest of the squad consists of players from UD Vessuwan, such as Karn "KNP" Janmanee, Poomipat "Fearless" Trisiripanit, Thanathorn "tnt" Sriiamkoon, and Anurat "Boombui" Praianun.

While some participating countries in the Asian Games have national teams composed entirely of professional players, most others are sending contingents consisting of one or two pros alongside amateur players.

Kyrgyzstan

Kyrgyzstan's national team is captained by Baqyt "Zayac" Emiljanov, who notably finished second at TI 2022 with Team Secret last year. He will be joined by HYDRA carry player Kyial "dream`" Tayirov and IVY offlaner Bektur "runec" Kulov.

Kazakhstan

Meanwhile, Kazakhstan's national team is led by Natus Vincere players Abdimalik "Malik" Sailau and Arman "Malady" Orazbayev.
