Roman “RAMZES666” Kushnarev stated that, although he did not like the DPC leagues, they do not look so bad against the backdrop of the current Dota 2 pro scene.
The player made this statement on Twitch.
“Everyone complained that the DPC was nonsense, so the DPC really is nonsense. But if you compare it to what was before the DPC, the DPC is unreal horror. But given the current trend in Dota 2, even the DPC doesn't look so bad anymore.”
Before the introduction of the DPC system, the Dota 2 pro scene was a collection of disparate tournaments in which teams participated by invitation or through qualifiers. The lack of a structured league led to an uneven distribution of tournaments and income, and players sometimes went without a stable income for months. At the same time, teams often did not know how exactly to qualify for The International, as the invitation system remained opaque and depended on Valve's subjective decisions. With the introduction of the DPC, Valve attempted to standardize the season by dividing it into leagues and majors with points awarded that affect participation in The International.
