Stanislav “Malr1ne” Potorak believes that boosters, smurfs, and account buyers significantly lower the quality of Dota 2 matchmaking.
The player shared this opinion on Twitch.
“For Dota to become a thousand times more lively, we need to make sure that such people don’t exist. They’re called boosters, smurfs, and account buyers—this shouldn’t exist. This needs to be fixed somehow so that this scum is gone.”
According to Stanislav “Malr1ne” Potorak, solving this problem would significantly revitalize ranked matches, making the game more interesting. The esports player called on the developers to address this issue. Expanding on his point, the player also noted that the presence of high-MMR players in low-rank matches using a different account—which is typical of boosters—significantly degrades the gameplay experience for other participants.
“It would be one thing if it were just smurfing, but there are people playing there with 2,000 MMR... There’s literally Daxak—who else is streaming there?—Travoman is streaming, or Rostik—‘I’ll take you from 1,000 MMR to 10,000.’ You see, a player with 7,000 MMR is sitting there playing at 1,000 MMR. Can you imagine what that’s like?
These 1,000 MMR players are just relaxing there after work or having fun, and they end up facing boosters. That simply shouldn’t happen. It ruins the concept of the game.”
As a reminder, Stanislav “Malr1ne” Potorak previously named the worst heroes in Dota 2.
