Yaroslav “NS” Kuznetsov believes that if Valve do not act, in just a few years the Dota 2 pro scene will turn into a regional one, where mostly teams from Eastern Europe will play.
The streamer shared his opinion on Twitch.
“There will be other people who point out a very sad trend, which, apparently, unless Valve intervenes somehow - which is unlikely - in a couple years this trend will lead us to the fact that in Dota in the top 10 in the top 8 teams from our region. All will be sponsored by Russian bookmakers - that's already the case, but it will be even more so. And there will be
Team Spirit vs.
PARIVISION,
BetBoom Team vs. someone else in finals, semifinals and everywhere else.”
Citing
Team Greece as an example, Yaroslav “NS” Kuznetsov noted that there are no new players on the team, and all members of the roster have been playing for 10 to 15 years. The content maker sees this as a bad trend, as it could mean the fading of the rest of the pro scene with the subsequent reduction of various gaming activities. The streamer also believes that Dota 2's transformation into a regional discipline is happening much faster than originally expected.
“You look at
Team Greece: not a single new player. These are all people who have been playing Dota for 10-15 years, again. What's wrong with that? If you don't see anything wrong with that, then think even harder. You'd better tell me what's good about it. Right here the answer is unambiguous: there is nothing good in it. It's very bad. It's the death of the rest of the scene, turning the game from a global to a regional one and dampening all possible activities in it. It will not lead to anything good in the distance. We are moving towards it very actively, faster even than predicted, unfortunately.”
Recall that earlier Yaroslav “NS” Kuznetsov proposed a unique mode for Dota 2, where the player will get a random hero from his own pool.
