Alexander "Nix" Levin, streamer and former esports player, stated that chasing a high MMR rating in Dota 2 will eventually lead to problems for the player and destroy all the enjoyment of the matches.
He shared this during a Twitch stream.
"If your goal is to boost your MMR, it's very harmful. The goal should be simply to play Dota 2 for fun, and the MMR comes second. It's like doing something just for the money, not because you enjoy it. If you play solely for MMR, it will be torture every time. You'll get frustrated, notice every misplay from teammates, fail to improve, blame everything around you for bad moments, and you'll never reach that MMR. People forget that video games are meant to be played for enjoyment"
According to Nix, if a player's main goal in Dota 2 is grinding MMR, it will only bring suffering. He added that this grind will lead to constant frustration during matches and conflicts with teammates, while all the fun will be lost. Therefore, he urged players to enjoy the game, and MMR will grow naturally.
Earlier, Yaroslav "NS" Kuznetsov mentioned that Valve may announce an MMR reset for players during The International 2024 finals.
