For many, the result of the BOOM Esports came as a surprise. Who would have thought that a team that was supposed to play in the Division II would end up at the top of the DPC in Southeast Asia.
Falling down
BOOM Esports finished previous season in 7th place, losing in decisive matches to Omega Esports and Neon Esports.
However, the players still had a chance to get to The International 2021 through closed regional qualifiers. But in one step from Final they lose to TNC Predator. And ahead of the team expected major changes.
During the reshuffle period, the organization decided to almost completely change the composition. Of those who played last season, only Fbz remained. Then the management began to hunt for other players.
The firsts to join the team were Yopaj and skem from OB.Neon. A little later, former TNC Predator player Tims joined them.

Mushi became a serious strengthening of the team. He took over as the team's coach. Tino became the last player on the team and completed the roster before participating in Dota Pro Circuit 2021/2022.
BOOM Esports roster:
- Justine «Tino» Ryan;
- Erin Jasper «Yopaj» Ferrer;
- Saieful «Fbz» Ilham;
- Timothy John «Tims» Randrup;
- Rolen Andrei Gabriel «skem» Ong;
- Chai «Mushi» Yee Fung (coach).
For the second division in DPC Southeast Asia, where the team was supposed to play, this line-up was already telling their rivals: «we are going to go back to Division I.»
Everything is decided by chance
On November 23, 2021, the tournament operator Beyond The Summit, which is responsible for organizing and hosting the DPC in Southeast Asia, announced that the Omega Esports organization, along with the players, were banned from Valve events due to engagement in matchfixing activities.

As it turned out later, the players, secretly from the organization, participated in matchfixing. It was a shock for the organization, because shortly before the start of the season they updated the roster, taking Eren and Forev. The new players were innocent, only the old Omega roster was banned. However, they became hostages of the situation and, in fact, were left without a team for the winter season.
One of the banned players at that time was listed in Execration. He could not play because of the ban, but the organization was in an unenviable position, because they simply did not have a substitute player.
As an exception, the Execration team was allowed to replace a player after the rosterlock. This allowed them to stay in the league.
However, due to the fact that Omega Esports lost their slot, their place was taken by the previous members of SEA DPC Div I - BOOM Esports. Thus, the team, unexpectedly even for itself, returned to where it played last season.
Rise to the top
The players decided to use such a gift of fate to the fullest. The team from the very beginning smashed their opponents one by one with a score of 2-0. Spectators and analysts noted the excellent play of the squad.
BOOM Esports vs T1 was the most anticipated matchup in the region.
Initially T1 were favorites. However, the DPC schedule and the long break couldn't help but take a toll on the team. After the defeat from Neon Esports, who won at Huya Winter Invitational 2021, the team completely disappointed its fans.
But it was T1 who inflicted the first and only defeat on BOOM Esports. But the season was coming to an end.
As a result, Fnatic, T1 and Team SMG scored 5-2 and fought in Tiebreakers for 2-4 places. And BOOM Esports rested in first place and watched them along with the audience.

Unfortunately, Valve canceled the Major. Instead, the top 4 teams will take part in the Regional Finals, where they will share DPC points and prize money. Undoubtedly, these will be spectacular matches. Perhaps it is there that an unexpected denouement awaits us. However, BOOM Esports have already taken their toll and are not averse to taking even more.
