Ivan “4SV” Karpov, manager of 1win Team, said that the team had no intention of intentionally throwing the match in the FISSURE Universe: Episode 8 qualifiers due to PGL refusing to reschedule their qualification match for PGL Wallachia Season 7, where the team had a real chance to secure a tournament slot.

This statement was published on the club’s official Telegram channel.

“One day before the game, the FISSURE organizers met us halfway and moved the match to 16:00 MSK, while matches at Wallachia are played using the follow-by system — they go one after another. Yesterday our match at PGL Wallachia started an hour and a half later, and today at 18:55 we already received a third-level draft penalty (both days this was the final, fourth series).

The game at FISSURE dragged on, and when I realized that we might not make it in time to start, I wrote to PGL asking them to move the match, but got a refusal. We couldn’t delay starting the second map, because at that moment the third game at PGL Wallachia had not finished yet. I can’t allow the team to skip a tournament, when there is even a small chance to advance.

Also during the second map of FISSURE we tried to reach an agreement with PGL, but failed. After that we had to make a decision on the spot, because at 19:00 we would have received a technical loss. I made the decision to leave the map and join PGL Wallachia”

The manager noted that he tried twice to convince the organizers to reschedule the match, but both times received a refusal. 4SV stressed that it was entirely his decision, as he understood that the chances of winning the map were almost zero, but they still had time to make it to the PGL Wallachia qualifiers, so he decided to take this step.

It is worth noting that many streamers and members of the Dota 2 community were outraged by 1win Team actions and even began accusing the team of “legal” 322. However, many others defended the club, pointing out that there was no sense in holding on to an already lost map, when there were still chances to prove themselves in another qualifier.
