Esports player Andrey "ALWAYSWANNAFLY" Bondarenko, who played for
FlyToMoon, admitted that he was offered up to $15,000 to lose just one map in a tournament.
He revealed this during a Twitch stream.
"Once, some guy messaged me. He was offering either $10,000 or $15,000 to lose one map. This was when we were in FTM. I didn't reply to him"
According to him, offers for participating in 322 schemes can go beyond $10,000. Considering that these offers are for matches not even at the Tier 1 level, such propositions can be tempting for some players. However, AWF confessed that he ignored the offer, which isn’t surprising. The well-known player didn't want to risk his reputation for shady deals, especially since he has earned nearly $400,000 in prize money over his career.
It’s worth noting that Valve previously warned participants of The International 2024 against engaging in match-fixing, as it carries severe penalties.
