Valve might be preparing to launch a new event in Dota 2

The dataminers have been actively snooping around and were able to uncover some irregular dealings on Dota 2’s testing servers which could be indicative of either a new update or an event being hosted.

This was shared by several users on Reddit.

There was a screenshot uploaded to the site showcasing the status of the servers which clearly depicts that the developers are working on something. Many began to theorize that this is not a patch but rather a new event created for the upcoming Chinese New Year. A similar event was held last year, so it’s possible that Valve might repeat it.

The holiday is on January 29 2025 which leads us to believe that the event will be on or within two weeks closer to the date. However, Valve has not shed any light on the topic as of now.

One point worth mentioning is that Valve recently rolled out a rather unexpected Dota 2 update where they removed one of the matchmaking regions.
