Valve may be testing a new Dota 2 hero Arjun: what dataminers found

Dota 2 new hero Arjun

Hints about a possible new hero Arjun have appeared in the Dota 2 files once again, but now the developers have closed the ability to track new heroes on test servers.

The discovery was made by a dataminer from the Telegram channel DotaFlow, who noticed changes in how Valve’s servers are operating.

According to his data, back in December 2025 the developers disabled the ability to track the hero list on staging servers, and on January 22 a similar restriction was introduced for the experimental version of the client. About an hour later, the experimental server received an update, which may indicate internal testing of new content.

At the same time, dataminers still managed to record a mention of the entity npc_dota_hero_arjun. This hero had already appeared in the game’s test files earlier and is once again linked to the experimental build.

As a result, Valve have effectively closed the usual ways of early tracking new characters: it is now impossible to learn in advance about future heroes either through staging or experimental servers. This may suggest that the developers decided to hide the development process, or are in an active stage of working on a new hero.

Recall that back in November 2025 the hero Arjun had already been added to the Dota 2 experimental server, which further strengthens assumptions about his possible appearance in the game in the future.
