Valve intentionally boosts favorite heroes of selected esports players before the start of The International. During TI12, Dota 2 developers gave a boost to the characters played by Team Spirit.

This statement was made by esports player Bogdan "Iceberg" Vasilenko during a Twitch stream.

"I don't understand why, but Valve has favorites among professional players. They have about five heroes in their pool that they play just divinely, and they are currently in the meta, super popular"

According to him, this year Valve gave a powerful boost to Team Spirit heroes, and he also reminded that a similar situation occurred during TI10.

"Like Collapse was flying on Magnus, *** everyone, the other 'Int' was also walking on Magnus ***. Valve just forgot that Dota has 100+ heroes and you can use them all if you think with your head a little, and not just think about how to make money from people who love this game, that's all"

It is worth noting that the boost to their favorite heroes was noticed by the players of Team Spirit in patch 7.34d, which was released a week before TI12. Valve has not yet commented on Iceberg's controversial statement.
