In conjunction with Frostivus 2024, which was released this year, Valve has banned 65,594 accounts which were discovered to be smurfing, MMR boosting or even cheating among other things in dota 2 for breaking the rules.
This announcement was made via the official Dota 2 website.
“Usually we deal with bans and penalties behind curtains but the Frostivus ban waves has turned up to be a festive custom, this is how Chinese New Year’s holiday season now starts. Nothing but pure, festive spirit with new more friendly, engaging and honest matches, where the 65,594 smurf accounts who were banned in this week are not to be found.
Also under the banhammer went rather a big portion of high-ranking players who were perfectly okay with losing their dignity and went as far as sabotaging, exploiting, match-fixing for the sake of winning the game and due to this interfering with the pure Dota and its competitive aspect”
Esports professionals and common players have been asking the company for long to get matchmaking sorted out and it turns out Valve has finally listened to what our community has to say. It’s fair to say that certain accounts believed to be doing MMR boosting have now vanished from the leaderboards of Dota 2.
With all due respect let me take this chance to inform you about the in-game festive event of Frostivus that went live along with a myriad of rewards.
