Steven "StingeR" Vargas, playing for
Mad Kings, received a ban on his main account in the middle of his team's match against
Thunder Awaken in the DreamLeague Season 22 qualifiers.
Mad Kings were awarded a technical defeat.
This information comes from Reddit users who posted screenshots of the broadcast.
It was a surprise to all participants in the match. StingeR couldn't reconnect for a long time, so the game was paused. After some time, when it became known about the player's permanent account ban, his team was credited with a loss.
Presumably, the reason was not the presence of a smurf account for the esports player but the general access to his main account, which previously sparked a loud scandal. Players didn't even hide the fact that they were smurfing and believed there would be no punishment for it. However, Valve reacted promptly.
