Alexander "TORONTOTOKYO" Khertek, former support player of
BetBoom Team, pointed out a significant moment regarding the uselessness of MMR in Dota 2, as his team's top MMR ranking did not help them win The International 2024.
The player shared this insight during a Twitch stream.
"What's the point of rankings? BetBoom Team was the top-ranked team in MMR at TI. It didn't help. The ranking doesn't matter"
He emphasized that
BetBoom Team held the top spots on the Dota 2 ladder during TI13, yet the team failed to even make it to the semifinals. Given this, the esports player concluded that MMR rankings do not affect gameplay or the performance of pro teams in Dota 2. Based on his words, he considers grinding MMR to be an entirely useless activity.
