The prize pool for TI12 is growing extremely slowly and may remain within the $3 million range. However, Valve could boost it with the help of Crimson Witness items.
This was suggested by the caster Yaroslav "NS" Kuznetsov on his Telegram channel.
According to him, Valve might attempt to increase the prize pool by releasing Crimson Witness or Collectors Cache chests for sale.
“The prize pool for The International is currently increasing at a rate of about $20-25k per day, and at this pace, it may barely reach $3 million by the end of the tournament.
However, during The International, viewers will have a chance to receive Crimson Witness chests, which contain exclusive, limited-edition items. Traditionally, these same items that drop for viewers can also be purchased in Dota 2, but they won't have the same crimson theme. It's possible that Valve will introduce such chests and/or Collectors Cache during the event. If 25% of the sales from these chests go into the prize pool, it could provide a slight boost”
Nevertheless, at the time of writing, The International 2023's prize pool is showing the lowest figure in recent Dota 2 seasons, standing at just $2.9 million.
