Nikita “Cheshir” Chukalin considers the cancellation of the DPC to be Valve’s biggest mistake in the development of professional Dota 2.

The Team Spirit CEO shared this opinion on Telegram.

“The pro scene lacks a clear tournament infrastructure. Canceling the DPC was a huge mistake, and I was very disappointed when I saw the announcement. Instead of refining the system, making it more entertaining, and adjusting the schedule, they made the very poor decision to ‘completely let go of the reins’; an unregulated market doesn’t always find the best solutions in the long run. We’re now reaping the consequences.”

According to a statement by Nikita “Cheshir” Chukalin, the head of Team Spirit was initially disappointed by the news of the DPC’s cancellation. He believes that Valve should have refined the system, making it more entertaining and more convenient for pro-scene participants in terms of scheduling. However, instead, the developer simply decided to remove all regulation.

As a reminder, Nikita “Cheshir” Chukalin previously explained the reason behind the replacement of Leonid “Chopper” Vishnyakov on Team Spirit’s Counter-Strike 2 roster.
