Ben “Noxville” Stijnhuizen said that
Heroic and
Yakutou Brothers played the first decider for a spot in the playoffs because the organizers of The International 2025 decided to limit the number of matches per team per day, which was not originally in the rules.
The analyst wrote about this in X.
"As far as I understand, the reason for these pairings is that the organizers decided not to hold more than two series per day, which is why
Heroic had to play
Yakutou Brothers.
This is quite fair, but: it's not in the rules, and they could play tomorrow."
According to Ben “Noxville” Stijnhuizen, if it weren't for the organizers' decision, most of the pairings in the deciders would not have changed, but
Team Spirit would have played for a place in the playoffs against
Heroic, and
Team Falcons would have played against
Yakutou Brothers.
"I believe there could have been scenarios in which there would have been no suitable opponents on September 6 (i.e., there would have been no teams with 3-2 and 2-3 results that had not yet met and both played one series on September 6), so what would have happened in that case?
Let me clarify: three out of five matches would have been the same, except for Heroic vs. Yakutou Brothers and Falcons vs. Spirit. Instead, there would have been Spirit vs. Heroic and Falcons vs. Yakutou Brothers."
Earlier, Ilya “Yatoro” Mulyarchuk talked about how
Team Spirit found themselves in a difficult situation due to Denis “Larl” Sigitov's injury.
