As part of the game's newest patch, Valve has disabled the viewing of pro player's games for users with high matchmaking ratings on DotaTV. This means users will no longer be able to watch any pro-player games in Dota 2.
Denis "sikle" Lerman, an analyst for
Team Spirit remarked on this change on his Telegram channel:
“DotaTV is done. If you don’t have super high MMR players or pros in your friends list, you will not be able to watch their matches. The only streams available are low-level Immortal games filled with ‘nomad players’ from other regions. No pros. No 9K plus pub stars either”
Sikle also remarked that learning from showing professionals is now impossible with the current DotaTV setup as the only way to view pro games is to add players as friends which makes them appear as options to be streamed.
In the comments users were in disbelief stating that these changes make DotaTV pointless. Some were more optimistic suggesting that this is a temporary change and that Valve will provide a way to view public pro matches.
We all remember Valve has made major changes to Dota 2 matchmaking systems with the games newest update.
