Mark «Sikle» Lerman,
Team Spirit analyst, explained that the new hero on Dota 2 test servers, Arjun, will likely be connected with the namesake character from Indian mythology.
He wrote about this on his Telegram channel.
"Based on the long-leaked name of IceFrog (Abdul Ismail), one can assume his Indian roots. It's not just by chance that they added specifically India's national plant, Shiva's Guard — a deity, then Khanda — a sword from the Mahabharata epic, Parashu — Shiva's axe. The release of an Indian hero doesn't seem redundant"
According to him, such a move by the developers is not surprising, since the game already has many references to Indian mythology. The analyst noted that Arjun may correspond closely to his mythical prototype.
"Arjuna — a hero of the Mahabharata, the name means 'white, pure, or silver.' Based on other names it’s clear he is a ranged hero and nothing else, because the heavenly bow is his main weapon. Divine chariots and dances we can skip"
Sikle pointed out that the new character will likely be a ranged hero equipped with a bow. It's also possible that his appearance and abilities will feature light or silver tones and include control abilities.
It’s worth reminding that Valve already added the new hero Arjun to Dota 2 test servers, but the release date is still unknown.
