Alexey "STORM" Tumanov, a Dota 2 commentator, noted that each match in the Elite League will be important, not just a formality, as the tournament will follow the Swiss system.
STORM made this statement on his Telegram channel.
"The Dota marathon in the Elite League is starting, and it will be very interesting to finally see the Swiss format, where every match will be crucial, not just a formality"
The commentator pointed out that unlike previous tournaments, the group stage will feature a system where teams are not eliminated after losses but instead earn points for victories. Teams or players with similar results typically face each other, allowing for a more accurate assessment of their skill level.

Unlike the double-elimination system, where losing teams exit the tournament, the Swiss system allows teams or players to lose multiple matches while still remaining in the competition. In other words, this means there won't be any throwaway matches during the tournament, so teams will be fully engaged in every encounter, which will delight Dota 2 fans.
It's worth mentioning that at the end of the group stage, the 24 participating teams in the Elite League will compete against each other to vie for the $960,000 prize pool.
