Quinn "Quinn" Callahan stated that Anton "Dyrachyo" Shkredov's removal from
Gaimin Gladiators was a nuanced decision that didn’t necessarily imply he was the source of the team’s issues. According to him, the carry was replaced by Alimzhan "Watson" Islambekov to maintain the right atmosphere within the roster.
The esports player shared this in an interview with eScoreNews.
"I don’t know. It’s hard to say. It’s always very ambiguous. In the end, it’s easy to look back or analyze from the outside and decide what was good, bad, or made sense. Like, ‘Oh, that’s why the team worked,’ or didn’t work, or something like that. But inside the team, people are just trying to do what they think makes sense. And if something happens a certain way, it doesn’t necessarily mean the issue was with one particular person. Often, it’s just a temporary thing, or sometimes you simply need to make a change"
The
Gaimin Gladiators midlaner admitted that the decision was ambiguous and wasn’t heavily influenced by team performance. According to Quinn, Dyrachyo was replaced to maintain the team's atmosphere. It’s possible that his overly cheerful demeanor didn’t resonate well with all team members, leading to his replacement by someone perceived as more serious.
"There have been many cases in the past where teams performed very well over a long period but made changes anyway because things can only stay the same for so long before they start feeling a bit off. Additionally, many Dota players are still very young. While this is their job, it’s also their passion. So the same problems, the same losses, whatever it may be, can repeat. Sometimes, it’s just normal to make changes regardless of results, just to keep the team’s atmosphere in the right place"
Based on Quinn's statements, the decision seemed to stem primarily from a desire for roster changes rather than performance metrics. This makes sense given the team's achievements, including winning Riyadh Masters 2024 and securing second place at The International 2024 - remarkable results by any standard.
