Quinn Callahan, former mid laner for
Gaimin Gladiators, admitted that he devoted nine years to Dota 2 and missed too many events in the lives of his friends and loved ones, so he believes he has had enough.
The esports player shared this in a video message on YouTube.
"All this time, I was under stress and emotional strain, but it was justified by the goal. I had a reason to suffer, so to speak. But after that season, everything changed: I achieved what I wanted, except for winning TI. I hope that by the time you see this, the situation will change. That's it. I proved to myself and others that I can be the best. In the end, all the suffering — missing birthdays, weddings, time with family and friends for the sake of training, pub games, endless flights and tournaments — no longer seemed justified. During the 2024 season, I thought about it a lot and decided that 2025 would be my last”
Quinn admitted that during his pro career, he was constantly stressed and spent a huge amount of time on Dota 2, but he considered it justified. Now, the player noted, he has changed his mind and decided that TI14 will be his last tournament regardless of the results. At the time of recording the video, he did not yet know that
Gaimin Gladiators would withdraw from the competition.
The pro player had been preparing to leave since 2024, thought long and hard about his decision, and finally decided to take this step.
Earlier, Quinn officially announced the end of his professional gaming career.
