Quinn “Quinn” Callahan, the midlaner of
Gaimin Gladiators, has announced his retirement from professional play after nine years on the Dota 2 pro scene.
The esports player published an official statement on his YouTube channel.
The renowned midlaner noted that he had recorded this message even before The International 2025, which suggests he had planned to step away from the pro scene regardless of whether he would compete at the world championship.
“Dota has always been a source of stress and an emotional trial for me. It was always worth it because I had a goal, a reason to suffer, so to speak. But after that year, everything kind of changed. Because I achieved what I wanted — I just didn’t win TI. I’ve already proven that I can be the best and that we can be the best.
The fire that made me endure the suffering, the endless hours [in Dota], missing birthdays, weddings, simply not having time for family and friends, began to fade. I gave all of that up for training, pub games, traveling and playing in endless tournaments whose value was diminishing for me. In the 2024 season I struggled with this and decided that 2025 would be my last. It was an incredibly long, full and hard road. But I wouldn’t trade it for anything and I will be forever grateful for the chance”
Quinn admitted that his decision may come as a surprise to fans, but emphasized that after nine years in the professional arena, he has grown tired and decided it was time to end his career. At just 26 years old, he now intends to dedicate his life to other pursuits.
