Clement “Puppey” Ivanov stated that the DPC was a terrible system, and also far too drawn-out and taking too much time away from players.

The unexpected statement was made during an interview for the YouTube channel of Maurice “KheZu” Gutman.

“In my opinion, DPC is the worst thing that ever happened to Dota 2. At first the season was very long, then it was cut in half — from six to three weeks. But imagine that you have a real life. I know that you don’t, but just imagine. Sometimes you need to go to school, do other things, hang out with friends. And suddenly you have to play matches and go somewhere for eight weeks because before the games you need to do a bootcamp. So basically you have to leave for two months”

According to the Dota 2 pro scene legend, the season was extremely stretched out which destroyed the personal lives of players. He noted that the tournaments and bootcamps themselves took a huge amount of time that could have been reduced significantly.

“I understand that achieving some kind of success is a big privilege but sometimes you end up with nothing, right? You go there — and what, you earn one thousand dollars for it? It was useless. If you win — everything is fine. We came to this structure after what existed before — only a damn idiot could come up with this. Whoever did it, sorry but you are dumb as a cork”

Puppey added that he considers this system stupid and does not understand how such a tournament format could even be invented. According to him, when he asked why there was only one BO3 match per week, he was told that this is what viewers want.

Nevertheless despite Puppey’s words, many players were happy with the DPC system, noting that back then the tournament schedule was not overloaded like it is now and had its own advantages.
