It is shocking to players how dramatically the Dota 2 map changes after patch 6.85, which was the first time significant changes were made to its geography.
A similar thread is becoming famous on Reddit.
Schubydub, who wrote it, also presented an image of the map in ancient patch 6.81 when it had not been extended yet. In addition, he tweeted a number of shots illustrating how Valve has been gradually altering the terrain from one patch to another. Many people are impressed by how much the game itself has changed over time. A few users even commented that they didn’t remember what the map used to be like before it was expanded, despite playing for years.

Notably, after patch 7.33 came out, developers considerably enlarged Dota 2’s map by up to 40% and inserted in a number of mini-bosses thereby changing match gameplay immensely.
Before now, Valve once suggested a radical change to Dota 2 where an underground part would be added into the map.
