Alexey “OverDrive” Biryukov believes that PGL Bucharest does not measure up to a Tier 1 Counter-Strike 2 tournament, being at best a Tier 1.5 event.
The commentator shared this opinion on Telegram.
“Enough with calling PGL Bucharest a Tier 1 tournament. Look at the list of teams. At a stretch, you could call it Tier 1.5, but it’s 100% not Tier 1.
Three teams from the top 10, four from the top 20, and nine teams below the top 20... What kind of Tier 1 is that?
You should only go by the HLTV ranking. Only some drunkard counts VRS points.”
According to Alexey “OverDrive” Biryukov, the tournament falls short of the advertised level due to the roster of participants, which includes only three teams from the top 10 favorites of the pro scene. Moreover, the analyst noted that most participants are ranked below the top 20, which is why he prefers that teams receive invitations based on the HLTV ranking rather than VRS points.
As a reminder, Alexey “OverDrive” Biryukov previously spoke out sharply against the VRS system in professional Counter-Strike 2.
