Yaroslav “NS” Kuznetsov believes that Valve developers released Quartero's Curios solely to increase online traffic in Dota 2, but the update turned out to be uninteresting.
The streamer made this statement on Twitch.
“People play Dota. All they have to do is throw a bone into the bowl, and the online audience immediately grows at an explosive rate. They gave us this nonsense that we have now. It's uninteresting, there's nothing interesting about it.”
The content creator called “Quartero's Curios” the most stripped-down free version of the Battle Pass. According to Yaroslav “NS” Kuznetsov, the update offers the same mechanics and rewards, but in a stripped-down and free format, which makes the gameplay boring.
“Quartero's Curios is a super stripped-down Battle Pass, even the rewards are the same, all kinds of effects, clothes. Only compared to the Battle Pass, it's free and very boring. There's no sense of impact from progress, few rewards.”
The streamer also noted that the release of “Quartero's Curios” significantly increased the average online presence in Dota 2, as fans wanted to check out the update, but Valve could have made the game at least twice as popular if the developers had taken a more responsible approach to the in-game content.
As a reminder, Valve previously released a new update for Dota 2 that fixed a number of bugs but did not add Compendium 2025 to the game.
