Yaroslav “NS” Kuznetsov explained that sponsors pay streamers not for the number of views, but for clicks on links.
The former esports player talked about this during a broadcast on Twitch.
"No one pays for a specific event or for the numbers at an event. There is a contract for a year (sometimes two or three), and it stipulates a certain amount of remuneration. It doesn't matter to the bookmaker how many viewers are watching you and where exactly. What matters is how many conversions you bring in. Towards the end of the contract, these indicators are analyzed, and the terms may be revised based on them"
NS emphasized that sponsors are usually not interested in views themselves, but only in clicks on links. According to him, depending on the results for a certain period, the contract may be changed, and the cooperation lasts not for one event, but for at least several months.
“Of course, there are also image contracts: with rappers, comedians — because of their quotability in the media and overall media weight. But this is not about streamers. A streamer is a person that no one needs except Twitch. He is only needed to generate conversions”
At the same time, NS noted that some content creators can still work on a viewership basis, but as a rule, these are not streamers, because their value is limited to the Twitch platform itself.
