The International 2024

Yaroslav "NS" Kuznetsov proposed to Valve to change the format of The International 2024 by adding a pre-main stage qualifier using the Swiss system, similar to what was seen in the Elite League.

The former esports player voiced his proposal during a Twitch stream.

"I think it would be cool to have an additional qualifier before The International, something like Last Chance, it was a cool thing. Last Chance in the form of Swiss system would be great to watch"

He noted that this method could select 8 teams instead of direct invitations. This would allow players to earn their slot at TI13 on equal terms.

"Let's just imagine. This year there is no DPC, Valve will just invite teams to TI based on their old methodology, just based on their achievements throughout the year. Basically, they will invite whoever they want. Imagine, they invite 8 teams to TI, and before that, there will be a Swiss qualifier with 16 teams, of which 8 will also qualify for TI"

The essence of the Swiss system is that teams do not lose points for losses but gain them for wins. Teams or players with similar results usually play against each other, which allows for a more accurate assessment of their level of play.

According to NS, this would be spectacular and also put teams on equal footing during the qualifiers, so Valve should consider implementing such a system.

It's worth mentioning that NS previously made a surprising statement about the salary levels of Team Spirit Dota 2 players.
