Vladimir 'No[o]ne' Minenko, a midlaner for
PARIVISION, suggested that Valve brings on pro players as contracted employees for pro patch creation work in Dota 2. He said that professional gamers have mastered the game, so their insight would be invaluable.
He said it while appearing on one of his Twitch streams.
“Professional players who’ve invested their whole life understanding the game should be consulted when planning future patches. That’s the bare minimum. They could even be paid on an hourly basis, which I don’t understand why they haven’t done already. It’s not like they have to be full time employees. I know Valve is sitting on only 200 employees, and it's a very closed company.
But why not bring them on to do work for a single patch? Offer a $10,000 payday, and I am sure the player would are more than willing to spend a week or two contemplating what could be retuned or added. After which, the ideas could then be worked on and implemented by Valve. It’s a great idea…”
Experience tells No[o]ne that Valve does not hire players because they are complete strangers to him, but such payments containing minimal strings attached would go a long way in easing out those rigid payments and allow for far more harmonious patch balancing.
What is interesting is that this esports player greatly values such work and is certain that the company stands to part with around $10,000 in a fortnight or so.
Recently, No[o]ne revealed the timeline in which he expects to step away from playing professional esports to transition into coaching.
