Miroslav “Mira” Kolpakov stated that Valve is deliberately not releasing the Battle Pass before The International 2025 so as not to share the money with the championship participants.
The sensational statement was made during a stream on Twitch.
“They thought: why should we share, we'd rather keep the money ourselves. And, well, it's probably not worth it to give away 40 million every year. I looked at the prize money in esports, and Dota is still in the top 3 in terms of prize money”
The two-time world champion noted that the developers decided that it didn't make sense to raffle off huge sums at the tournament, because even after the prize money was reduced, Dota 2 is still in the top 3 most profitable disciplines.
Moreover, he believes that Valve will not share the money, and instead of the Battle Pass and filling the prize pool for The International 2025, they will release events or other activities, the profits from which will not have to be shared.
“Why would Valve give this money to us, the players at The International, when they can get it themselves by releasing sets, events, and other things where they can spend their money?”
It is worth remembering that Mira is considering switching to CS2, noting that this game from Valve is significantly superior to Dota 2.
