Developers of Dota 2 have released a new update called "Dragon's Gift" and simultaneously tightened their anti-cheat system, resulting in a massive wave of bans. The primary reason for the bans was the usage of Overplus. Even professional esports players and Dota 2 pros faced bans.
The first confirmed cases of bans were shared by Ben "Noxville" Steenhuisen, a Dota 2 analyst, on his Twitter page.
According to him, the Overplus program, previously known as Overwolf, became the main reason for the bans among professional players. We discussed what Overplus is in our previous material. It's noteworthy that many high MMR-rated players were caught cheating.
This seems to be just the beginning of the ban wave, so the list of blocked players will gradually grow with new names. Notably, even Yaroslav "Limitless" Parshin, who recently surpassed the 12,000 MMR mark, has already received a ban.
