Korb3n Discusses How Much Longer the Professional Dota 2 Scene Will Last

Dmitry “Korb3n” Belov believes that professional Dota 2 will cease to exist within the next 5–7 years if the situation in the esports discipline does not change.

The Team Spirit manager’s statement was posted on Telegram.

“Nothing will happen to the game itself. Dota 2 as an esports discipline, if nothing changes, will come to an end in 5–7 years. Well, it could end even sooner. Tournaments seem to be sticking around. There will, of course, be issues with the EWC, but everything seems to be okay for now, as tournaments for 2027 are still on the schedule. There won’t be any major cutbacks among organizations. Budget cuts—possibly.”

Acording to Dmitry “Korb3n” Belov’s statement, this could happen sooner, but next year’s tournament schedule remains in efect, with the exception of the 2027 EWC for Dota 2, which is still in question. Since numerous tournaments are already scheduled for the near future, most organizations will remain active in the discipline despite the predicted decline in funding.
