Ilya “Kiritych~” Ulyanov said that he wanted to get into professional Dota 2 after he started following his idol, Amer “Miracle-” al-Barkawi.
The player announced this on YouTube.
“I started folowing my idol, who made me want to get into esports — Miracle. I started following him when he moved to Monkey Business. When I saw him lift his first trophy, I cried. I look at him and think, ‘I want that too.’ From that moment on, I started trying hard.”
According to Ilya “Kiritych~” Ulyanov, Amer “Miracle-” al-Barkawi's early successes motivated him to think about starting his own career in Dota 2. However, the player's introduction to esports began with other games, after which he learned about Dota 2 through Steam advertising and liked the game.
"I played Tanki Online, Warface, Wormix — all these basic games. Unfortunately, I didn't play Minecraft: I played Kopatel Online.
My friends from school and I just played CS:Source. And then there was an ad for Steam on VK, saying that there was some kind of Dota there. I started playing. The guys didn't like it, plus they didn't have much FPS. I really got into this game, I played a lot. I had 15-20 FPS. I didn't understand why I was lagging."
Earlier, Ilya “Kiritych” Ulyanov talked about the difficulties he faced after joining
BetBoom Team.
