Eric “Tofu” Engel stated that the
Gaimin Gladiators roster is not showing the best level of preparation at DreamLeague Season 24, and also recognized the problems in the individual play of the squad’s members. According to the player, the team is still not used to the style of play of the new carry Alimzhan “Watson” Islambekov.
The corresponding statement was made by the player in an interview on Twitch.
“I think that in general we are out of shape right now and played badly individually, but as a team we are trying to catch on. The fact that we have a newcomer, watson, also has an impact. We need to get used to each other a little bit.”
The cyber athlete also said that most players are now moving away from their usual approach to Dota 2, something the team is trying to adapt to. Eric “Tofu” Engel also stated that the length of matches has increased a lot recently, and cited the team's weak play in the early stages as the reason for this, adding that it is impossible to win while showing poor preparation.
“There has also been a big change in playing styles. Right now, people are gradually moving away from what we have been playing for a very long time. So we're trying to adapt. Also, the games have gotten a little bit longer. I think that's mainly because we weren't as good in the early stages. You don't win games if you don't play well.”
At DreamLeague Season 24, the team drew against
PARIVISION and
BetBoom Team, but lost to
Team Liquid's lineup on both maps. However, the team also has two wins over
Nouns and
Nigma Galaxy within the group stage.
As a reminder, earlier Eric “Tofu” Engel admitted that
Gaimin Gladiators had discussions about replacing several other players besides Anton “Dyrachyo” Shkredov.
