Quinn "Quinn" Callahan, the mid laner for
Gaimin Gladiators, admitted that he had planned to leave Dota 2 and even changed his old nickname CCnC to erase all associations with Valve's game.
He shared this during a stream with Jean "Gorgc" Stefanovski at The International 2024.
"I think CCnC is a funny nickname, but I don't think changing my nickname was a good idea. It happened not for drastic reasons, but because I wanted to distance myself from Dota 2 and focus on something beyond Dota. CCnC was too associated with it, and I wanted to move on"
It appears that Quinn had planned to leave the Dota 2 pro scene as early as 2019, but then somehow changed his mind. He did not specify what exactly he planned to do but emphasized that he wanted to sever his ties with Dota 2, as his old nickname was too closely associated with the game.
It is worth noting that Quinn recently launched harsh criticism against Ilya "Yatoro" Mulyarchuk over his nickname change before The International 2024.
