After the release of patch 7.40 and the arrival of the new hero Largo in the game, dataminers found hints that the next character could be Frug the Barbarian, who had been mentioned previously.
This is indirectly suggested by lines of dialogue from Largo addressed to the unreleased hero, which were published on Stepan’s Dota Telegram channel.
Largo’s lines to the unreleased hero
Ally encounter: “Ha ha, keen is! Who's that little cousin in the bucket?”
Enemy kill: “Hell nah, why don't you go visit theirs for a bit?”
According to Dota 2 lore, there is an entire race of amphibious creatures in the game, from which the bard-hero Largo originated. It is possible that the next hero could be Frug the Barbarian, who was previously mentioned in the Dota 2 Hero Atlas.
Supporting this theory is Largo referring to the unreleased hero as his “cousin,” which could mean that they both belong to the same race or to rival tribes.
However, Valve has not yet announced who the next hero will be, or whether Frug is being considered as the new Dota 2 character.
It’s also worth noting that the ultimate ability of the new hero Largo turned out to be a complex mini-game in Dota 2.
