Artem "fng" Barshak, the former captain of
Virtus.pro, named
Abaddon as the worst hero in Dota 2, who should be nerfed in the next Dota 2 patch.
He shared this opinion during a Twitch stream.
"Abaddon is garbage. Heroes like this will rarely win in Dota 2, very rarely. Characters who don’t have proper mechanics to play PvP, let’s say... What do I mean? Heroes need to lane strongly, farm quickly, and deal damage"
He pointed out that
Abaddon is an unpleasant character, lacking useful mechanics, but he wins until Valve nerfs him again. He reminded that
Abaddon is often given overpowered stats, but is eventually nerfed, as otherwise, the hero breaks the balance.
"Abaddon relies entirely on right-clicks and durability. To make him overpowered, you’d need to raise all his stats to the sky: 60 damage from the start, a shield absorbing 200-300 damage. Basically, everything in terms of numbers would need to be broken, but such heroes rarely stay strong for long in Dota 2. They release a patch, and Abaddon might be overpowered for 2-3 weeks, and then they nerf him because it’s just boring to play Dota when something is imbalanced"
Considering that
Abaddon currently holds the top win rate in Dota 2 matchmaking, winning 56% of matches, it's likely that he will indeed be weakened in the next gameplay update. However, Fng believes that without inflated stats, the hero won’t be able to win and will lose his popularity.
