Alexander “Nix” Levin said that League of Legends can be more exciting than Dota 2 because in Valve’s game bosses like Roshan and the Tormentor have become almost useless, while in LoL fights for objectives really matter.
He talked about this during a stream on Twitch.
“But the developers just dont care about the viewers and people who play the game. They barely work on Dota. For me its not interesting to watch players hitting creeps for 90 minutes and just pushing waves. I want the developer to force fights, some action, things that make players move. In League you cant just ignore the last Dragon. If enemy take it, you lose the game in like 90% cases. But in Dota its very easy to just skip Roshan and sit on highground for 90 minutes. Roshan gives almost nothing, Tormentors too. Thats why the game feels boring and matches last so long”
According to him, Valve does not force teams to fight over bosses, which allows players to avoid fights and stall games. Because of that teams can stay on high ground for very long time, which is not very exciting for viewers.
Nix added that in League of Legends the situation is different — bosses often decide the outcome of the match, forcing teams to fight for them, and this makes watching professional games much more exciting.
