Former Astralis players Markus “Kjaerbye” Kjærbye and Viktor “vigg0” Bisgaard played a full Counter-Strike 2 showmatch during a SAS Airlines flight, proving that esports players can now properly play even while flying.
The flight was at an altitude of around 12 km, however this did not affect the stability of the game. The aircraft was equipped with Starlink internet, which provided a 407 Mbps connection throughout the entire flight — from taxiing to landing, without disconnects or noticeable lags.
According to the players, the connection quality was good enough not only for browsing or streaming but also for comfortable competitive play. As a result, the team of Kjaerbye and vigg0 managed to win the match 10:5, showing that even an intercontinental flight is no longer an obstacle for CS2.
Given the stability of the connection this opens up new opportunities for players from different regions, who can now fully practice during long-haul flights. However fans started to wonder, what ping the players had during the match, since this is an extremely important if not one of the key technical factors in gameplay.
It is worth recalling that earlier Valve released a Dota 2 update, which significantly changed the matchmaking.
