Muriel ‘Kips’ Höisman believes that the organisers of Elite League Season 2 want to save money on broadcasting the tournament at the expense of community casters who will do everything for free. The commentator called on the English-speaking community to boycott the event.
The corresponding call for the caster published in a personal account in X.
‘Hey! Anyone remember when the SA DPC went on strike? That too had its roots in ESB wanting to spend 0 dollars on EN coverage.
If you've ever been paid to cast Dota 2 I suggest you skip this one rather than let the people with the $800k LAN have your labour for free.’
Elite League Season 2 will take place in Lima, the capital of Peru. 16 teams will play for a total prize pool of $800,000. Shortly before the start of the tournament, the first day of which is scheduled for 25 July,
Tundra Esports and
PSG Quest withdrew. Following them,
Gaimin Gladiators also withdrew from the list of participants, explaining this decision by schedule overlaps and fatigue after the Riyadh Masters 2024.
As a reminder, the coach of one of the Elite League Season 2 teams is a player who received a lifetime ban from Valve for his involvement in match-fixing.
