Dota 2 Diretide 2023: rewards and rules of the Halloween celebration event

Diretide, one of the most anticipated and beloved events in the world of Dota 2, may return to fans this year after The International 2023. Valve's team is expected to delight fans with updates and improvements.

What is Diretide

Diretide, alternatively called Rise of Darkness is an event linked with Halloween holiday. Every task and reward are somehow associated with this weird celebration that allows players to earn rewards in creepy fashion and play in a new custom mode.

Diretide History

The history of Diretide began during 2012 when Valve introduced this festive mode into Dota 2. The players had to fight for candies stolen by Roshan who was malicious together with his minions. Over time, Diretide has turned out to be integral part of Dota 2 culture and every year it becomes one of the most expected events in community calendar.

Nonetheless, it should be noted that it was not celebrated annually. For instance, from 2014 until 2019 there was no such thing but they have reintroduced it back into Dota 2 by Valve in year 2020.

Will there be Diretide this year?

According to rumors, Diretide may return this year, but not before October 30th. Allegedly, Valve is already testing the event on custom servers and will launch it after The International 2023 concludes. It is worth noting that there have been no official announcements from the Dota 2 developers, so the information remains at the rumor level.

Diretide Mode Rules

There are major changes in rules during Diretide. Instead of destroying enemy base individually, players must cooperate with Roshan while doing so. Team mates damage creatures thus earning candies stolen from Roshan.

Subsequently, these sweets are placed inside enemy wells where they are deposited. A map-roaming invincible Roshan destroys the well with the most candies every few minutes. The first team to lose all its wells is defeated.

Diretide Rewards

Candyworks and Emporium have been activated for the event. These are seasonal stores that allow you to turn said candies into useful items.

In the Emporium Treasures, there are three treats displayed at once that can be reforged if none of them please a customer. Dota games played give up to ten rerolls each day. Skins include past versions and new Diretide themed ones and even one in which Roshan was included as part of collection. In addition, people who are lucky enough might get an Arcana among these goodies.

Each treat could be gained by exchanging candies for it. If you do not have enough candy to trade, you can change your stock candy with any other recipe available at that time in the Emporium itself. If this still does not bring out any desired mould, then one may need to wait for recipes to reset periodically as they often do so or exchange three candies for one of any kind when desperate.

The Unique Hallowed Chest of the Diretide

During these events, Hallowed Chests of Diretides are expected back with old keys required still applicable for opening them again.The improved Diretide chest contains seventy-five treasures that players can earn from it directly.

In this list of four tiers, any ten items of the same tier can be traded up for a treasure one level higher, to Tier 4. However, many players will aim at getting Tier 5 rewards among which are unique hero Arcanas.
