Since December 2023, Dota 2 has not witnessed significant updates. However, information about the upcoming "Crownfall" update (also known as patch 7.36 or 7.35d) has emerged, with the announcement made on February 9 without specifying the release date.
Possible release date for Dota 2 Crownfall update
Valve has announced that the Crownfall update for Dota 2 is expected to be released around mid-April. The corresponding announcement was published on the official game website.
"We know that many of you are eagerly anticipating Crownfall, and we can't wait to bring it to you. We're just adding the finishing touches, so the update will be released around mid-April. Until then — all the best"
It is not excluded that this refers to April 20, which coincides with World Circus Day, fitting the concept of "around mid-April." The reason being that the holiday is indirectly related to the introduction of the new hero Ring Master, who is designed in a circus theme, as seen in the trailer.

BetBoom Team version
Luka "Lukawa" Nasuashvili, manager of
BetBoom Team, believes that the new Dota 2 patch will be released on April 17, which coincides with World Circus Day this year.
He even shared a corresponding screenshot in his Telegram channel, pointing out the connection between the patch and the new hero Ring Master, themed around the circus.
Fan theories and release dates that didn't come true
Although many fan assumptions were quite well-founded, related to symbolic dates or based on datamining, none of them materialized. The speculated release date for the Crownfall update in Dota 2 was only revealed with the release of Patch 7.35d.
Nevertheless, many fan theories and datamining assumptions were indeed interesting.
On Reddit, a new release date for Dota 2 Crownfall has been suggested.
Users on Reddit have put forward the suggestion that Valve might release a major update for Dota 2 called "Crownfall" featuring the new hero Ring Master on March 21st, in connection with the symbolism of this date.

This day marks World Puppetry Day, and considering that Ring Master is also known as Puppet Master, it's possible that the developers intend to link the update with this event.
Data miners have found hints about another Dota 2 Crownfall release date
According to data extracted from the Dota 2 client by data miners, it is suggested that the release may be delayed until March 7 or even 8. This is indicated by new lines of code in the treasure code where the release date for the Dragon's Gift treasure was shifted from March 5 to March 7, indirectly suggesting a change in the patch release date.

It is not ruled out that Valve will release the new patch on the night of March 7 to 8, as the Dragon's Gift event is expected to end around these dates. Therefore, the new event is unlikely to start earlier to avoid overlapping with the previous one. However, their prediction did not come true, and the Gift of the Dragon event just ended on this day.
Anticipated changes in the Dota 2 Crownfall update:
Global changes to item and hero stats, as well as significant shifts in the current meta.
Introduction of the new hero Ring Master, focused on controlling enemies.
Thematic "Crownfall" event featuring
Queen of Pain as the boss.New treasure trove offering the chance to expand collections with new arcanas and other cosmetic items.
It's worth noting that the Dragon's Gift event is still ongoing, allowing players to obtain the incredibly rare Ancient Dragon King item – the first throne decoration in the game's history.
