All the available data is based on leaks from dataminers, but it's essential to remember that these leaks can be unreliable, as some concepts remain in the game files for years without being used. Nevertheless, let's consider what might be expected.
How much does the compendium Dota 2 cost?
Most likely, the Compendium will cost $10, as usual. The question is whether the funds collected from Compendium sales will be directed towards The International's prize pool. Given that there are less than three weeks left until the start of the tournament, it's unlikely that a large sum will be raised. However, it's possible that some portion of the funds could be allocated to the prize pool, as Valve might decide to make a different choice.
What's inside the Dota 2 Compendium 2023
The main innovation that could be inside the Compendium is a mega-treasure chest. The principle is simple: with each Battle Pass level, you receive a token that unlocks a part of the treasure chest. The design of the treasure chest will likely be significantly altered since there is no Battle Pass as such anymore.
Here is a rough list of what could be inside the treasure chest:
- 1st tier - emblems, dropping with a very low probability (1:1,000,000).
- 2nd tier - personas and arcanas.
- 3rd tier - major rewards, such as landscapes, couriers, towers, creeps, commentators, and music.

Regarding the release date, that is a big question. If we exclude some dates when the Compendium definitely won't be released:
- Night from September 27th to September 28th: A significant CS 2 update is scheduled for this time, possibly even the game's release. It's highly unlikely that Valve would release anything simultaneously with this event.
- From September 30th to October 1st: Valve typically doesn't release anything on weekends, so the Compendium is unlikely to be an exception.
However, Valve promised to release the Compendium this week. There are only a few possible dates left: nights from September 25th to 27th and from September 28th to 30th are the most logical options. If you want to get less sleep to wait for the Compendium's release, choose one of these dates.
