Blitz spoke about his work as Team Liquid coach

William “Blitz” Lee said that Kuro “KuroKy” Salehi Tahasomi, who was the team captain at the time, offered him the position of Team Liquid Dota 2 coach. Although the esports player had no coaching experience, he decided to accept the offer.

The Team Liquid coach spoke about this on Twitch.

"I lived in Berlin for a while and worked as a caster for joinDOTA. At that time, there were tickets to watch tournaments in the game. I had an event ticket from MDL or something like that. It was 3 a.m. and KuroKy wrote to me: “Hi, can I join your party to watch the matches?” I agreed and we just watched the games together and chatted on Steam. After about an hour, he wrote: “Do you want to be our team's coach?” I replied that I had never worked as a coach and didn't know what I could offer the team. He wrote back, “We'll figure it out, everything will be fine.” I agreed and thought, “What the hell, why not?”

Blitz also admitted that at first he had no idea how to work with the team, but decided to start by building an organizational culture. The coach urged the players to be punctual and keep their workplaces tidy, as well as to resolve all conflicts peacefully. According to the esports player, it gradually became easier to work with the team.

"Yes, I had no idea what I was doing. I realized that the most important thing for me was to build a team culture. So I told the players: ‘Be punctual, keep your workplace clean, respect each other’. I also told them that if I ever yelled at them or they yelled at me, it would be better for us to part ways. I never wanted to yell to get my point across. And it was important to me that the players didn't yell at each other. Over time, it became easier and easier because we have reasonable people in our lineup. They are a bit clownish, of course, but they are good at heart.

Recall that earlier, Samuel “Boxi” Svan named MVP of Team Liquid’s roster at the Riyadh Masters 2025 Dota 2 tournament.
