Astini Takes on the 322 Mafia

Filipe “Astini” Astini stated that the use of cheating software is closely linked to the 322 mafia in professional Dota 2.

The Team Nemesis coach made this statement on X.

“I know this will be extremely difficult to prove. That is exactly why I am doing everything I can to highlight the best aspects of our community and prove it. There are many developers in Brazil who can use their programming skills to really fight this and identify patterns.

I also know I’ll face a lot of backlash. Because cheating is often linked to the 322 mafia. I’m taking on a huge fight. I understand that there will be a lot of bots spewing nonsense. But I will fight for fair matches in Dota until the very end.”

According to a statement by Filipe “Astini” Astini, he intends to expose such incidents and combat them, even though he understands he will face a barrage of paid-for hate from the 322 mafia. The Team Nemesis coach believes that using cheats doesn’t give players supernatural advantages, but helps them perform mechanical actions as efficiently as possible. Although some players try to hide signs of cheating, Astini is certain that such situations occur extremely frequently and urges the community not to defend players who use third-party software.

“For example, in the Asao case, I’m almost certain he could have been caught by analyzing his camera movement patterns. He became a different player after being forced to play with screen recording enabled. He constantly used camera panning and moved along the edge of the screen before he was being watched. Then he stopped.

Please understand the basics so you don’t waste time defending cheaters. Especially since it will seem like you’re expressing valid points, because many will agree with you. Because many people make money off cheaters going unpunished.

Everything cheats do, people can do too. A cheat won’t deal double damage or use an item you don’t have. But in many cases, it will use an ability perfectly in your place. And a single instance where an ability wasn’t used in the best way doesn’t prove innocence either. They know they’re being watched.

A conclusion can only be drawn after a thorough analysis, looking at how many times a player performed like a true genius in crucial moments when they weren’t streaming their screen. And how many times they played like a bot in critical situations when they were streaming their screen.”
